Hey everyone :) So I have put together a small list of things which will help in saving your money. Saving your money now, even if it’s only $5 a week, will help you buy awesome things in the future. These things can be, a car, a house even money for college. Saving can be a really hard thing to do, trust me I know. Now that internet shopping is getting more popular saving is getting harder. It is so easy to enter your bank details and click ‘buy now’. I hope these tips help those who are trying their best to save.
When you get payed, get that money transferred into cash and then give it to someone you trust like a best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend or family member to hold on to. Tell them not to let you have that money even if you beg them to do so. This really does work. This means the money is no longer in your control so when you have the urge to buy something, you wont be able to.
Set up an automatic payment into a savings account. This means that as soon as you get the money, it is taken out of your account and put into savings. This creates the illusion that you never really had the money as it is taken from your account straight away but it’s put away in your savings. This brings me to my next point.
Create a savings account that charges you each time you withdraw money from it. I know this sounds stupid and you would technically be loosing money but it makes you not want touch your savings money. This tip is a hard one to process, but it works. It makes you double think before you purchases. You end up thinking something along the lines of: “do I really need this?”.
Buy a piggy bank, preferably one that is solid apart from the money slot at the top. Paint or decorate this piggy bank to make it really cute and awesome. This will mean that to get any money out of it you will have to break it and you probably wouldn’t want to do that. Put $5 or $10 or even more into it from your weekly pay, you will be surprised how much will accumulate. Also, if you find loose change around (making sure it’s yours and nobody else’s) pop it into the piggy bank. Every little cent helps.
Collect as much discount codes and rewards cards that you can and use them whenever you can. These add up over time and can save you a lot of money in the long run even though you may not think so. Even though you technically are spending, you are also saving at the same time. There are a lot of rewards cards out there you just have to find them.
That is my top 5 tips for spending money, I hope you find them helpful. If you have any other tips that I have not mentioned make sure to comment them below :)
