So the other day, I decided that I really want to go overseas and work on a project that helps animals, specifically wildlife. So I searched and searched and then came across a website called goeco.org. This website has a range of projects available on a volunteer basis. It is also relatively cheap. I then came across something that I really want to do one day and that is the Bali Sea Turtle Rescue programme.
This progrramme receives injured turtles from local fisherman and then cares for the turtles until they are ready to be released into the sea again. They also care for new hatch-lings until they are big enough to survive on their own in the sea. I think this would be an awesome thing to do! Because of my passion for helping animals I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for me. With this specific project, accommodation, food, support, airport transfers, pre-depature kit, orientation, insurance and transport is all included in the initial price. The only things I would have to sort myself are flights and personal expenses. I want to go for 8 weeks, which would cost $3,030. I also have to add plane tickets on to that which is about $1,000-$2,000. So overall the project would roughly cost $5,000 which is a lot of money! I am hoping to go in 2017, or the end of my degree :)
If you are interested in the volunteer programme here is the website: http://www.goeco.org/
This is the project I am hoping to do specifically: http://www.goeco.org/area/volunteer-in-asia/indonesia/bali-sea-turtle-rescue#profile
If you have ever done anything like this before, leave a comment as I would love to know how it went :)
